Harlem Globetrotters Dec 31st

This event will be on Sunday, Dec. 31st . The pregame “Globetrotters University” starts at 12:30 pm and the actual game starts at 2pm. We will meet at the Nutter Center and sit as a group. The cost is $14 each and will include a Harlem Globetrotters patch for everyone. Please return the attached form to Lisa by December 12th.

Ice Skating on Tuesday, Dec 28th

Prepare yourself for a fun filled night of ice skating on Tuesday, Dec 28th. We will meet at Riverscape from 6 – 8pm.

Christmas Goodie Delivery December 23rd

We will be delivering goodies to the W. Carrollton fire and police departments and the Moraine Fire department on December 23rd. We will meet at the school at 10am in our Class A’s. Please bring goodies separated into three containers for each area of delivery. If you are able to help, please turn in the permission form to Lisa by December 12th .

Christmas Carolling December 21st

Once again the pack will be singing Christmas Carols for the retirees at Walnut Creek Nursing Home (5070 Lamme Rd). We will meet in our Class A’s no later than 6:20 pm. So, come on out and sing with us to bring some holiday cheer to those who need it.

No Den Meetings

There will NOT be any den meetings December 19th thru January 2nd. Enjoy the holidays, and come have fun with some of the other pack activities!

Order Delivery - November 18 - December 12

West Carrollton Holiday Festival December 2nd

Pack 840 will have a table set up at the Civic Center from 2-5:30 pm. We will be selling baked goods, juice, and ornaments. If you would like to make ornaments and/or baked goods please get them to Lisa by Friday night December 1st. Cookies should be bagged in two’s and brownies or Rice Krispy squares (for example) should be cut into 3x3 squares. Cupcakes - individually. Please try to donate about 2 dozen. We are also looking for some volunteers to help work at the booth. If you are able to bake and/ or work the booth please let Lisa know.

Newport Aquarium - Saturday, November 4th

We will meet at 8:30am at Harry Russell. The cost is $6.95 per person and can be paid by scout accounts, cash, or checks (made payable to Pack 840). The permission slip is below. All money and forms are due by October 27th. Please dress in your class B’s.

Scout Night at Dayton Bombers - Saturday, November 4th

If you have signed up, the game starts at 6:30 pm at Hara Arena. We will meet there in our class B’s.

Sunwatch Scout Day October 21st

Scout day will be held from 9am to 12pm on Saturday, Oct. 21st. If you are interested please see Angie or Tammy for more information.

Webelos Weekend - October 20-22nd

Webelos weekend is a chance for Webelos to get those camping nights in, and earn some of their pins as well. More details to follow.

Committee Meeting October 19th

The cub committee meets this month at the Bethel Baptist Church 7:00 pm. This is open to all parents.  The cub committee is where all the planning for the pack is done. Come and help us make a better program for your boys!

Tom's Corn Maze, October 14th

Plan to have a fun evening at Tom's Corn Maze. We will meet there at 5:00, and have a campfire and cookout afterward. The cost is $4.00 per person, due October 10th. Wear your Class B uniform, and bring a flashlight!

Scout Camporee October 6th-8th

The big Fall Camporee at Johnstons Farm in Piqua is fast approaching. The dates are October 6-8. This year the Camporee is for all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers. There will be activities all Day Saturday for each group plus a laser light show in the evening for everyone. There is a maximum of 5000 spaces available and the event is open to the entire Council (5 counties) an surrounding Councils. The cost for the camporee is $20 per person. This includes food. We will meet at 5:00pm and leave promptly at 5:15. Because of the nature of registration and for security reasons everyone that is camping MUST arrive with their unit. Those coming Saturday ONLY will be permitted to arrive on their own.

Each boy will need to bring:

Ivory soap (yes, MUST be Ivory)

2 10" long sticks, diameter of an adults index finger

backpack

Class A uniforms are REQURED for traveling.

West Carrollton High School Homecoming Parade - Thursday, September 28th

We will be participating in the West Carrollton’s Homecoming Parade on Thursday, Sept. 28th. This year we will be first in the parade line. We will meet in front of Walter Shade ECC at 6:00pm. Please wear your Class A’s.

Popcorn Kickoff - Roller Skating Party September 23rd

We are excited to tell you that we will be having our popcorn kick off at Romar rollerskating rink in Germantown from 4-6 pm. This is where you will pick up your fundraiser popcorn. Please see our Popcorn Chair, Todd Shafer, if you have any questions. The Pack will pay for admission and skates for the boys - siblings and parents skate rentals are welcome but must rent (or provide) their own skates. A fun way to kickoff the popcorn sale!

Den Meetings Start September 12th

Time to get going again. Our first den meeting of the school year will be held on Tuesday, September 12th from 7-8pm. As a reminder, all scouts and leaders must be in their class B’s or class A’s. We will open the den meetings at 7pm with the “Pledge of Allegience”. We can’t wait to see all of you.

School Night September 5th

This is the chance for new boys to come and join the pack. Leaders will be there to discuss the pack and their dens.

August 2006

Cleanup & Cookout – August 26th

On Saturday, August 26th at 9am we will be helping clean Harry Russell Elementary School. Following the cleanup will be a cookout at Hintermeister Park. Please wear your Class B’s.

Tops Festival - August 26th

The annual Tops festival will be held on Saturday, August 26th at 5:00 PM on the corner of 1st and Central in Miamisburg. Please wear your Class B’s. More information will come.

Committee Meeting August 24th

Relay For Life – August 11-12

We will be participating in the Relay for Life for the Cancer Society from Friday August 11th to Saturday August 12th. The theme this year is “Day at the Tracks” and it will be held at the West Carrollton High School. You may camp over night or join us in the morning for the Relay for Life. It will run from 6pm Friday to 12:00pm Saturday. Please stay tuned for more information.

Webelos Resident Camp August 4-7

A great time for webelos to earn pins and have fun at Woodland Trails. Plus it is an easy way to get your webelo camping requirements in!

Scout Day at Dayton Air Show – July 30th

“Scout Day” at the air show will be Sunday, July 30th. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children. More information is available at: www.usats.org/news.html Fees and permission slips are due to Angie.

Sycamore State Park – July 14th thru July 16th

This is a pack camping trip. We will meet on Friday, July 14th at 6pm at the school. There are a lot of fun activities planned such as marbles – which may be earned as a beltloop, tops, and much, much, more. The cost is $10 per person. Fee and permission slip (below) is due to Lisa by Monday, July 10th . Please arrive in your Class A’s on Friday.

Moraine Heritage Festival Parade - Saturday, June 24th

We will meet at the Moraine Police dept at 9:15am, exact place TBA. The police dept is located off of Dryden Rd. Please wear your Class A’s. More info will be sent out later.

DayCamp June 12-16

Miami Valley Council, WBD Cub Scout Camp will be held at Indian Riffle Park on June 12-16. The time will be from 9:00 to 3:30. Our theme this year will be "King Cricket - Knights Tournament." We will be working at medieval games and crafts. Cub Activities will include: Swimming, BB Shooting, Sling Shots, Archery, Tournament Games and Arts and Crafts. Cost this year will be $50.00 per cub for the week and will include our annual hot dog meal on Friday. Payment and forms are due May 8th to Sondra Townsend.

Fishing Derby – Saturday, June 10th

Get your fishing poles ready and meet us at the school at 8:45 am. The fishing derby will be held at the Delco Park in Kettering. This is a free activity for anyone between the ages of 5-16. No pole? No problem…they will have fishing equipment available for anyone who needs it. Lunch will also be provided. Please wear your Class B’s. Dayton Dragons June 3rd

Our annual outing to a Dayton Dragons baseball game is coming up. If you haven’t purchased tickets and would like to go to the game, Lisa still has a few Tickets left. They are $9 per ticket. The game starts at 7 pm. Please wear your Class B’s.

Pack Meeting – May 30th

This is the last pack meeting of the year. It is our big Ice Cream Social as well. Plus, all the boys who sell 10 or more Subway discount cards get to dunk the leader of their choice in a DUNKING BOOTH!!! Come and watch your favorite leader get WET!!! We will also be passing out any awards, pins, etc, and crossing all boys over to the next level. Den 7 will have an activity. Class A’s.

Memorial Day Grave Decorations May 27th

On Saturday, May 27th, the scouts will be participating in placing flags on the graves of Veterans at Dayton National Cemetery. We will meet at school at 8:15 am, rain or shine. Class A’s. Permission slip available on the link below.

The committee meeting has been moved this month due to the Distric Recognition Dinner being held on the 18th.

We will not be able to meet at Bethel Baptist Church on May 25th for our pack committee meeting. Instead we have made arrangements to meet in the room attached to the West Carrollton library at 7:30. We can assemble in the lobby outside prior to 7:30, but most likely we will not get the meeting under way until 7:30 (about a half hour later than our usual start time). Please make a note of this and inform anyone else who you think might plan on attending. I'm sure we can meet back at Bethel Baptist next time.

Shrine Circus April 28th 7pm

Come and see the Shrine Circus - and it is free for boys and their immediate families! A good time will be had by all. Please submit permission forms by April 11th so we can get the correct number of tickets.

Pack Meeting – April 25th

Cub Adventure April 21st-23rd

Get your camping gear out and come camp with us on the weekend of Friday, April 21st to Sunday, April 23rd. . There are a lot of fun activities planned and, in short, the kids have a blast. We will depart on Friday from Harry Russell at 5pm and return Sunday afternoon. There will be an informational meeting on the night of Tuesday, April 11th. The cost is $17 per scout and siblings (5and up), $5 for siblings under 5, and $15 per adult. The due date for payment and forms is April 11th. If you have any questions, please see your den leader or Lisa. Class A’s for traveling.

Pinewood Derby - March 25 10am

“Cub Scouts: It’s time to start your engines”. Our annual Pinewood Derby Race will be held on Saturday, March 25th at 10:00am. This will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church. It is such an awesome “sport” that the boys have a lot of fun participating in it. We will also have a concession stand. We’ll have doughnuts and bagels in the morning (50 cents), Hot dogs, chips and drinks ($2 for meal) for lunchtime. The top four winners (one of whom must be a tiger) will go on to race at the districts finals on April 8th.

Scouting for Food March 11th & 18th

Our annual Scouting for Food drive is begins March 11th at 10:00 am. Meet at the school to distribute bags, then meet back again on the 18th to pick up bags of food. (You don't have to do both weekends - let your den leader know when you will be helping). This is a great service project for the boys.

Recharter Due March 7th

Columbus Zoo Overnight Trip March 4th & 5th

This is the reward for popcorn sales this year. We will leave at 4:30 pm from Harry Russell on March 4th and return about noon on March 5th. We will travel in our Class A’s. All money and froms are due by February 9th and is non-refundable after that point. There is a maximum of 50 spaces available. We will depart from Harry Russell at 4:30pm on Saturday. There will not be any dinner served, so please eat something before you go. Class A’s please.

Blue and Gold Banquet February 18th

This year our annual Blue and gold Banquet will be held at West Carrollton Church of the Nazarene (next to Russell) on Saturday, February 18th at 4:30pm. This is an exciting time for the scouts because they receive their rank, they are able to perform a skit, eat some yummy food, and most of all we will be able to see our very own Webelos II cross over to become Boy Scouts. Please get with your den leader to see what you can bring to our banquet. We will also need to know how many will be attending in each family.

Wright State Raiders Scout Night February 11th

Wright State is giving a special discount to scouts for a basketball game. Come and cheer on the Raiders. The date is February 11th at 7:05pm at the Nutter Center. Cost is $7 for all scouts and leaders (includes reserved seat ticket, commemorative patch, WSU basketball team poster. non- scouts are $5 (tickets only). All scouts and family are invited to a private autograph party after the game with the players. The money must be turned in to us by January 25th. Tammy Richardson is in charge of this.

Scout Sunday February 5th

Scout Sabbath February 10th

A scout is reverent. And each year a day is set aside as Scout Sunday (or Scout Sabbath) when many churchs recognize the scouts in their congregations.

Uniform Drive January 27th

In order to help out our adopted Katrina Pack, we will be having a uniform drive on January 27th. If you have an old uniform that won't fit, but is still in good condition, bring it in between 6 and 9 pm to help a scout who lost his.

Cub Klondike - January 14th

Our annual Klondike will be on Saturday, January 14th. The cost this year is $5 and still includes the hot chocolate and hot dog at the end. For you newbies this is where each den pulls a toboggan (no runners, please) from station to station doing different activities. They compete with other dens in their age group. They are given "gold" nuggets for each activity depending on how well they do. The winners have the most nuggets and best time. It's a lot of fun for the boys. They also need certain items (list to come out soon to the den leaders) and a den flag and den cheer.
