Minutes for January 17, 2008 Meeting
Minutes for  January 17th Committee Meeting
Attendance:
Lisa Boyd Karl Kinton Todd Shafer
Angie Shockley Carolyn Wilburn Michel Berenson
Sue Berenson Renee Owens Diane Akins

The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm

Sue handed out fliers for TechFest, Scout Sabbath/Scout Sunday, Wright Brother’s District Dinner and to Webelos leaders Troop 236’s lock-in.

Todd handed out a summary sheet for popcorn.  The committee decided that Blake Demarey’s Dad, Uriah must pay %90 of the cost of the popcorn that the pack has been unable to sell (100%-10% for scout account).  Blake will not be permitted to check out popcorn next year.  Only Take Orders will be accepted. The packs profit was $2347.06.  New popcorn policies will be in place next year dealing with money turn in (scout amount lowers if money due is late) and having orientations.  Todd needs someone to train to take over for the 2009 season since his son crosses over in February of next year.

Dianne had an Arrow of Light ceremony to be done at Blue and Gold.  Dianne and Trish will make their own cakes for their dens.  Mike will not be doing a Pack cake because the Blue and Gold planning committee wants to have an adult/child cook off.

Gun Club fundraiser is off to their own financial issue.  The pack will have to have a Spring Fundraiser to make up for the loss of soccer and King’s Island concessions and the shortfall on popcorn this year.

Renee sent a e-mail to leaders that she needs advancement for Blue and Gold by February 15th.  The website needs more pictures.  She asked for any more links that people would like to see on the website.  She is currently trying to get loop/pin requirements on the site.  She is also working with Serra Chevrolet on doing the Automotive Safety Patch.  She will look into having them come to the Bike Rodeo in May.

Karl went over the January Pack meeting.  The theme is Disability Awareness.  There will be Round Robin stations and each den needs to provide 1-2 parents to help.

Fundraiser ideas were tossed about but no consensus at this time.

Lisa talked about needing a check policy.  The committee voted to have all checks for Council/District (campouts, resident camp, Klondike, etc) events and popcorn sales made to MVCBSA.  This info will be placed in bold on all permission forms and on the popcorn collection envelopes.  In the case of a returned check a fee of $20 will be added and the amount must be paid in cash by a set date.  If payment is not received by that time the scout’s account will be frozen.  A vote was held as to whether we should hold advancement.  It was no’s –8, yea’s-1, and one abstention.  It was unanimous to hold all prizes from fundraisers until payment was received in full.  A certified letter will be sent after reasonable effort by phone or personal conversation has been made.  If no response then a second letter will be sent notifying them that the WC police department will be notified.  She will place this in the newsletter.

The committee voted unanimously to set this year’s charter fees at $25.  Lisa has added a line to the charter form that states the pack’s cost is roughly $50 so we’re asking the parent’s to pay half.

There will be no more weekly den meeting announcements (unless absolutely necessary).

The meeting adjourned at 9:05pm
